The Ground (under every room)
The Ground — Your Life as the Path
6-week ground course · opens every cohort
The floor of the school — not the first course a student happens to take, but the one the others stand on. It answers what a person is actually doing when they sit, and why breath, word, sleep, and initiation are one door in different weather. It teaches the whole method as a single breath: the Way of Names in, the Way of Unknowing out.
The ground under every other course — it opens every cohort, whatever room a student is entering next.
the arc
Week 1 — The Looking That Meets You There
Posture taught to the body, then the first sit. The split between "me in here" and "world out there" is not original, and not permanent.
Week 2 — Non-Doing Through Doing
Active practice carried to its clean edge, then the sudden stop. Rigpa / wu wei / sahaja: the ground that was never absent.
Weeks 3–4 — Movement One: God in All (the Way of Names)
The body as first altar; the mirror, the single eye; faith, hope and love as three meditations; holy imagination. The cataphatic inhale.
Week 5 — Movement Two: All in God (the Way of Unknowing)
Sky-gazing, the prayer that empties, the Way of Unknowing when names fall silent. The apophatic exhale.
Week 6 — The Doors, and Living the Unified Gaze
The families of meditation — Resting, Breath, Body, Gaze, World, Light — taught as a lifelong return-to, plus "The Monastery Is Where You Are." Completion: each student chooses one Door as their standing daily practice.
